There is a great need for this kind of facility to support the growing churches and work in Southern California.
Location:
The Oak Glen Conference Center is located at the base of the San Bernardino mountains, just outside the village of Oak Glen and 7.5 miles from Yucaipa. The area is known for its apple orchards, unique stores, beautiful countryside views, and is adjacent to the San Bernardino National Forest.
The elevation of the camp is approximately 5,000 feet above sea level. Even though it can snow at this level, chains are not required during the winter months. The ride is a leisurely 15-20 minute drive from the I-10 freeway through the beautiful countryside.
History:
The Free Methodist church began to develop the site in 1958. Over the subsequent years, they acquired adjacent parcels of land and now the property spans approximately 50 acres.
The property was developed in 2 sections, an upper portion and a lower campground. The upper portion of the property is mostly woodlands, with 7 single family residences tucked neatly into the hillside. The lower campground is the heart of the conference center and is home to almost all of the camp’s buildings and amenities. After almost 50 years of growth and expansion, the entire conference center now has 61 structures with a combined 90,000 square feet of indoor space. The conference center has a current capacity of 320 beds and a dining room capable of serving 330 campers at any one time, or approximately 500 in 2 shifts.
